About the South Island Masters Games
Proving age is no barrier to participating, the Games hosts 30+ sports which attract thousands of competitors aged up to 95 and beyond from all over the South Island.
The goal of the Masters Games is to encourage participation in sport where camaraderie and competition are equally celebrated. People compete for various reasons whether it is to stand on the podium, improve their personal best, catch up with friends and enjoy the social atmosphere.
For most sports there is no qualification criteria other than age. That means anyone can compete - either to win or simply have fun.
The 2020 South Island Masters Games will be a sporting and social experience not to be missed. Held from the 9-18 October this will be an occasion where the saying 'the older we get the better we were' will ring true.
