Proudly supported by Venture Timaru — a landmark 25th edition of this iconic event.

For a quarter of a century, the Games have proven that age is no barrier to getting involved, staying active, and enjoying the spirit of sport. Each year, thousands of competitors from across the South Island and beyond come together to be part of something truly unique.

At its heart, the South Island Masters Games are about participation, connection and celebration. Whether you’re chasing a podium finish, setting a new personal best, catching up with old friends, or simply embracing the incredible atmosphere, there’s a place for you here.

With most sports offering entry based purely on age, the Games are open to all, whether you’re in it for the competition, the camaraderie, or just the love of the game.

Our 2026 theme says it all:

SIMG – Connect, Compete & Celebrate

Social Activities

The South Island Masters Games social scene is the stuff of legend — woven into 25 years of stories, laughter, and unforgettable nights.

It’s where participants, officials, and supporters come together off the field to relax, reconnect, and celebrate, whether that’s catching up with old mates or making a few new ones along the way (hairline optional 😉).

From the opening moments to the final farewell, 2026 will be packed with entertainment, great vibes, and plenty of reasons to stay out just a little longer.
